versus 206 for mitt romney. now that seems like a landslide. but if you actually take a look at the popular vote, what we're going to show you here is we have president barack obama at 50% versus 48% for mitt romney. that is a difference of about -- two million votes really not that huge. now the president defeated mitt romney in nearly all of the battleground states including pivotal ohio, florida and virginia. extraordinarily close we want to show you some important factors that came into play. black voters turned out in huge numbers african-americans really helping the president in urban areas in ohio and making the margins especially close in north carolina. mitt romney captured only 27% of the hispanic vote we've been seeing hispanics turning away from the gop back in 2004 believe it or not george w. bush won 44% of hispanics. so that's definitely a trend that we're seeing. white voters chose mitt romney by 58% to 40% for barack obama. the gender gap was really interesting too. among male voters, 52% favored mitt romney. versus 45% for bar
